Phase Dance is a 3 part variable wall-mounted assemblage made of rolled and painted sheet metal. The patterning is inspired by the classical acanthus leaf trim found on many historic New York buildings, including a certain firehouse on Broome Street in Manhattan.

This is one of a series I created very spontaneously from a prepared piece of sheet metal onto which I had painted a striated pattern of orange and white bands. I drew the shapes freehand, cut them out and rolled them, and after ignoring them for months picked them up again and conjured them into life with a few strokes of paint.
